Work With Nature, Not Against it
Industrial practices require increasing costly external inputs that damage land, creating a compounding risk in your farmland investments.
Agroforestry practices strengthen soils, improve water quality and enhance biodiversity. All while delivering superior returns.
Investment-Ready Tree Crops
We supply species with attractive supply-demand dynamics and strong growth prospects. We have secured the nursery supply chain to reduce your costs to plant and ensure availability of nursery stock. You’ll get a convenient, low-risk option to source high quality trees and shrubs for on-time delivery.

Creating the Largest Chestnut Operation in the U.S.A.
In 2021, Keavin Hill, owner of Hill Farms in central Ohio, recognized an opportunity to meet a growing and underserved demand for domestically-produced chestnuts. With Propagate’s support, he converted 1,850 acres of his farmland from corn, soy, and wheat to chestnut and hay production.
Balancing Returns & Restoration
We design farm plans based on the land’s inherent nature to ensure riparian areas and biodiversity are core to the future, not an afterthought.

Our Service Areas
We work with vetted technical service providers to support the implementation of agroforestry across the United States. The map below illustrates our three primary services: Farm planning, tree planting, and farm management.
We can work outside of the areas detailed below, depending on project type and size.
Agroforestry, the intentional integration of trees with traditional farming, has the potential to reach a market value of $200 million by 2030. The practice falls under the umbrella of regenerative agriculture, which is valued at around $350 million in the U.S. as of 2022, with a projected CAGR in the mid-teens.

Agroforestry Industry Report
Silvopasture, a form of agroforestry, is one tool in our regenerative toolkit that provides a host of benefits to producers, consumers and the planet. We recently published a study in collaboration with The Nature Conservancy which found that silvopasture has a 6-14% 10-year Internal Rate of Return (IRR) compared to traditional grazing.

Chestnuts & Agroforestry: Massive Opportunity for American Farmers
Producing chestnuts in the United States represents a significant opportunity for farmers to meet a growing and underserved demand. In 2022, the U.S. imported roughly 6.7 million pounds, that demand could easily be satisfied with domestic production bringing substantial profit to U.S. farmers. Through our work to date, we’ve discovered that chestnuts are a perfect complement for crops in agroforestry systems.
